Derek is a technology entrepreneur and current Chairman of Meridian Global. He has been in the industry for nearly 20 years. He has worked across the globe with PwC and Barclays Bank on large scale system implementations before co-founding his own tech company Greensense. He is now an active technology investor and provides strategic direction to accelerate company growth through the corporate advisory firm he co-founded – Go Capital. He is the head of Innovation Bay Perth – a networking series between technology entrepreneurs and angel investors.
Derek is passionate about social innovation and prior to joining the Meridian Global Board he pioneered social ventures including iHelp, Beach Chaplaincy and continues to take a team to India annually to work with number of organisations helping the actions poor.
Rueben is one of the founders and the current Secretary of Meridian. Rueben is also a director of Business Wealth Educators representing ActionCOACH, the World’s Number 1 Business Coaching Team in Western Australia. Rueben has a Masters of Business Administration (Advanced) and Bachelor of Engineering (Environmental).
Rueben is a leading business coach and mentor drawing on a diverse range of experience having coached over 300 businesses in 38 different industries since 2000. Rueben is a recipient of 9 Global and 15 Asia Pacific Franchise Awards. Rueben has a passion for social enterprise believing that entrepreneurs can move quickly to tackle some of the world’s key issues. He is an active mentor in the Coaching for a Cause initiative and has participated in several Young Entrepreneur Programs.
A Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners with an Executive MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management, Marcus is an experienced healthcare executive and company director with over 15 years of clinical and commercial experience in startup and publicly listed organisations.
A Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Adjunct Associate Professor in Health Leadership & Management at Curtin University Marcus has been a board director for over a decade with the Divisions of General Practice, he is currently the Chair of Perth Central & East Metro Medicare Local previously known as Perth Primary Care Network. He serves on the council of the Australian Medical Association (WA) and the Primary Care WA board and is a member of the Governing Council for the South Metropolitan Health Service Local Health Network (LHN) in Perth.
Marcus spends most of his time now pursuing his dual passions of innovation and philanthropy with a particular interest in venture philanthropy and social enterprise. Marcus supports the tech startup eco-system as the Managing Partner of Future Health Ventures, an angel fund that invests in Health Technology startups. He is currently the CEO of one of its portfolio companies, HealthEngine, a consumer health site reaching around 4 million Australians a year. Marcus supports the social sector through his involvement on the board of Giving West and The Meridian Global Foundation, a charitable foundation he co-founded in 2005.
Marco, a Certified Practicing Accountant, is a director of accounting firm Regency Partners. With over 10 years experience in the accounting profession, he has been responsible for a broad range of clients across a range of industries.
With a passion for not for profits, Marco currently volunteers his time through the provision of pro bono professional services and as Finance Director of Meridian Global.Marco is an ambassador for social entrepreneurship, actively promoting new innovative systems that will deliver positive social outcomes to both organisations and the community alike.
Branden is an entrepreneur and consultant working in technology & innovation, entrepreneurship, business strategy and M&A. Most recently, Branden was co-founder and Managing Director at Conducive, which was sold to Empired Limited (ASX:EPD) in 2012.
Before co-founding Conducive, Branden consulted internationally on intelligent transport, smart card systems, management & business, technology strategy and system development. With over 27 years’ experience, Branden has had the opportunity to work in a number of diverse industries including IT, industrial automation, financial services, telecommunications and automated fare collection, and consulted to many others.
Branden has experience in developing and selling businesses, and has held leadership positions in multinational finance and technology companies, as well as consulting internationally in Africa, South East Asia, USA and South America. Branden holds an Honours Degree in Commerce, Diplomas in Engineering and Computer Science, and an MBA from Curtin University, Perth. Branden is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management.
Alex Kempthorne is a marketing entrepreneur and Managing Director of boutique consultancy, Magnetize, which she founded in 2011. Magnetize is based in Subiaco and has provides marketing services to both private and listed companies, across various industries. Over her career, Alex played a key role in organising and implementing large-scale events, including international conference Media140 and the Kings of the Kitchen degustation dinner to celebrate the 2014 visit by His Royal Highness The Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex KG GCVO.
Alex has a passion for not for profits, and in addition to being a Board member for Meridian Global Foundation; she also donates her time as a Board member for the Duke of Edinburgh WA Division.
Yves is the Principal Adviser and Managing Director at Affluence Private Wealth. He is one of Australia’s most respected financial advisers, and specialises in working with Surgeons and Medical Specialists. Yves has been recognised for his technical expertise and professionalism by way way of various awards and nominations.
Yves is passionate about promoting financial literacy and education, as he believes this empowers people to take control of their own financial destiny, and will allow them to reach their full potential.
Yves has been working in the financial services industry for nearly 15 years, including in Belgium and Ireland. He migrated from Belgium over 10 years ago.
Dave is graphic designer by trade, strategic marketer by training and DJ by tinkering. Dave loves community and has a natural talent for gathering people and producing events that have a collective impact. He’s passionate about helping those in need and seeks every opportunity to engage people in the rewarding journey of giving.
Dave gathered some talented friends and formed the “Party out Poverty” GRANDAID crew, which in less than 2 years and 3 events gave away $45,000. He also has experience in harnessing the power of social media, directing the campaign that saw the First Home Project raise $600,000 in 13 days to secure the world’s first crowd-funded mortgage. He’s had nearly 10 years experience hosting large parties and events for a range of different causes and reasons, all tied together by the belief that we are better together.
Annette is the Customer Service Manager at Greensense, a Perth-based technology startup, Annette is passionate about sustainability and helping those in need. Throughout her career, Annette has helped many organisations to reduce their environmental impact through her role as a sustainability consultant. Annette believes in the power of the collective and that together we can tackle both local and global issues, improving quality of life for current and future generations.
